The vampire slayer acknowledged as Blade has been several matters: hesitant member of a Dracula-hunting crew, co-founder of a monster hunting organization, leather jacket enthusiast. But next February, he’s established to acquire on a new part — very pleased papa of marquee Marvel superhero.

At the Marvel Voices panel at New York Comic Con 2022, the publisher declared a 5-issue miniseries called Bloodline: Daughter of Blade. Starting off upcoming February, the e book will element the 1st comprehensive-size highlight for Brielle Brooks, the titular daughter of the infamous shade-sporting daywalker. Composed by Danny Lore with art by Karen S. Darboe, the collection will stick to Brielle as she discovers her half-vampiric heritage, and has to grapple with that pesky blend of puberty and surprising monster brawls.

Brielle initial built her debut in a short function in this year’s Free Comedian Reserve Day 2022: Avengers/X-Guys. That tale released Bri as an average teen girl escalating up with her mom in Atlanta, only to uncover herself not-infrequently managing afoul of regional vampires. That story’s concluding twist — that Blade experienced still left Bri to live with her mom in get to hold her protected from their dangerous heritage — sets up a possible reunion in this future sequence.

Blade, for his aspect, had a little something of a rough upbringing of his have. To start with introduced by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan in their 1970’s Tomb of Dracula series, the London-born Eric Brooks (of course, Wesley Snipes lovers: Blade canonically seems like a chimney sweep) was born to a mother fatally attacked by the vampire Deacon Frost when supplying start. With his fifty percent-vampire blood, Eric uncovered himself delicate to daylight (as a result his trademark black shades) but in any other case immune to vampiric attack, and swore vengeance towards all vampire-type.

That position quo lasted right until the late ‘90’s, when, in a transfer to much better resemble Blade’s motion picture adaptation, Blade identified himself bitten by the type-of-vampire Morbius (it was, in fact, Morbin’ time) and remodeled into a Daywalker: a semi-vampire ready to stroll in daylight, but even now resisting an insatiable bloodlust.

But just one detail Blade has generally been is a sullen, self-consciously no-nonsense loner, so pairing him with a hitherto unknown teen daughter adds a new, and potentially pretty funny, wrinkle to both characters’ lives — type of like the Burt Reynolds car or truck Cop and a 50 %, other than the child is in significant school, and the killer they arrest is Dracula. As Marvel Enjoyment gets established for a major force for a new Blade film reboot, rumors have swirled that a casting call for a teen actress indicates that Brielle, or a character like her, will co-star in the movie. That was back in 2021, and the film will not strike theaters until 2023, but it would keep on a big development in Marvel’s Stage 4 and 5. Brielle could come across herself poised for some important interest. Much better apply her ideal fang-toothed smile.
